چکیده

Intermittent claudication is a frequent complaint in lower extremity artery disease, but approximately two thirds of patients are asymptomatic, most which diabetic patients. Non-invasive angiological and microrheological tests on subjects with without intermittent were performed the present study. In total, 98 included divided into groups: 20 (63.5 ± 8.8 years, 55% men, 45% women) had claudication, 78 (65.5 9.3 61.5% 38.5% asymptomatic. Hand-held Doppler ultrasound examination, transcutaneous tissue partial oxygen pressure (tcpO2) measurement, Rydel–Seiffer tuning fork tests, 6-min walk performed, erythrocyte aggregation was investigated. Ankle–brachial index (p < 0.02) tcpO2, measured during provocation 0.003) test 0.0001), significantly deteriorated symptomatic group. A higher faster aggregate formation observed 0.02). Despite statistically better results asymptomatic group, 13% these severe limb ischemia based tcpO2 measurement. Claudication can be associated worse hemodynamic hemorheological conditions patients; however, also develop subjects. vascular detect ischemia, highlights importance early instrumental screening limbs.

Use of arteriography for the initial evaluation of patients with intermittent lower limb claudication.

CONTEXT Many patients with intermittent claudication continue to be forwarded to the vascular surgeon for initial evaluation after arteriography has already been accomplished. OBJECTIVE The main objective of this work was to analyze the usefulness and the need for this procedure. TYPE OF STUDY Retrospective study. SETTING The patients were divided into two groups: Group 1, with the arteri...

Patients with Intermittent Claudication

Increased blood viscosity has been shown to be an important factor in reducing blood flow in a review and analysis of the history, clinical findings, and haemodynamic, rheological, radiological, and biochemical measurements in 126 patients with intermittent claudication. In some patients increased viscosity seemed to be the determining cause of claudication. A raised plasma fibrinogen was the m...

Effect of diabetes on the cutaneous microcirculation of the feet in patients with intermittent claudication.

AIMS To evaluate endothelial-dependent and - independent cutaneous vasodilator responses in the feet of patients with peripheral arterial disease (PAD) with or without Type 2 diabetes. METHODS Cutaneous microvascular responses in the dorsum of both lower limbs were measured in the supine position using Laser Doppler Fluximetry combined with iontophoretic administration of endothelial-dependen...

The acute effects of lower limb intermittent negative pressure on foot macro- and microcirculation in patients with peripheral arterial disease

BACKGROUND Intermittent negative pressure (INP) applied to the lower leg and foot increases foot perfusion in healthy volunteers. The aim of the present study was to describe the effects of INP to the lower leg and foot on foot macro- and microcirculation in patients with lower extremity peripheral arterial disease (PAD). METHODS In this experimental study, we analyzed foot circulation during...

Management of patients with intermittent claudication.

Intermittent claudication is a common manifestation of peripheral arterial disease, its symptoms have a gradual onset and the patient may not notice them initially, instead accepting them as part of the ageing process. The main concern with intermittent claudication is the increased risk of cardiovascular or cerebrovascular events. This article highlights the relationship between these diseases...
